Virgin Galactic Unity 22 Launch
We were over the moon when Virgin Galactic called looking to produce an out-of-this-world launch event from their new commercial Spaceport in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Building on the success of the company’s spaceflight back in May 2021, Virgin Galactic was ready to complete the next significant test flight that would help usher in a new era of space travel.
Our team rocketed into high gear, working our production magic to create a truly epic experience for Virgin Galactic’s launch that had global media, broadcast media, dignitaries, investors, VIPs, influencers, students, and future astronauts at the edge of their seats. We constructed a 1,400 square meter (15,000 sq ft) fully enclosed, air-conditioned tent for guests, and set up stellar sightlines for broadcast media. As the sun rose, guests made their way to Spaceport America for a spectacular pre-flight brief and show.
Then all eyes turned skyward as Sir Richard Branson and the crew of Unity 22 took flight. Enormous LED screens helped guests track the journey as the pilots made a flawless atmospheric circle, reaching a speed of Mach 3 and a height of 55.5 miles, then deftly glided back down to Earth.
The crew were greeted by families and then made their way to the stage where they were awarded astronaut wings by NASA Astronaut Chris Hadfield, then participated in a live-streamed press conference.
It was a truly celebratory day, steeped in hard work and emotion – a great step toward achieving affordable space travel for all.
The Virgin Galactic Unity launch was viewed around the world, inspiring the next generation of astronauts, and bringing us closer to commercial space tourism. This spectacular press event captured hearts and imaginations and was covered by thousands of global media outlets.
