Medford Public Library Opening

Learn More

To help celebrate the official dedication and ribbon cutting of the new Charlotte and William Bloomberg Medford Public Library, Bloomberg Philanthropies was looking to create a magical experience that would foster imaginations and welcome the people of Medford, MA – Mike Bloomberg’s hometown.

We helped them realize their vision, producing a dramatic event that had multi-genre appeal. It was pure poetry as the Medford Community Chorale, hit a high note to set things off. History unfolded as Paul Revere rode on horseback through the streets of Medford heralding that the “Library is Open”. Johnny Tremain stepped out of historical fiction and onto a wooden ladder flanking the entryway where he welcomed guests and introduced American Novelist and Medford native Paul Theroux who engaged audience with thrilling tales. Poet Laureate Terry E. Carter stirred up emotions with beautiful prose. All eyes turned to Amelia Earhart who made a fictional return to speak with the library’s new director Barbara Kerr.

Confetti rained down as the lightweight fabric was removed to reveal the new sign marking the Charlotte and William Bloomberg Medford Public Library followed by heartfelt remarks by Senator Ed Markey. Guests were able to sign a poster for the library’s archives and explore a multitude of historic maps on display.

We were thrilled to have supported Bloomberg Philanthropies to make the Medford Public Library dedication memorable. Uniting a community around spectacular stories and introducing guests to new resources that have the power to shape lives.
