Ellis Island Medals of Honor Awards

Learn More

Since 1986, the Ellis Island Honors Society has honored first and second-generation Americans who have distinguished themselves through significant personal, professional or philanthropic and humanitarian efforts on behalf of our nation. The awards are presented to outstanding citizens and have included notable figures such as Paula Abdul, Rita Moreno, and Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

In 2016, the Honors Society approached productionglue looking to create a memorable event for its 30th Anniversary that honored these contributions in a significant way. Each year, the event takes place on Ellis Island at the National Museum of Immigration, where a joint-service color guard, the 82nd Airborne Division Choir, kicks-off the festivities set to a dazzling display of fireworks. Marvin Scott, the perennial host, and 12-time Emmy Award-winning journalist, presides over the celebrations with a charismatic co-host, this year, he was joined by Tamsen Fadal.
