Cornell University Sesquicentennial

Cornell University wanted to bring alumni together to celebrate the landmark institution’s 150th birthday with an unforgettable theatrical tour and a parade of pageantry that would pay homage to the University’s spirited history. This spectacular show needed to inspire nostalgia and rekindle attendee’s commitment to their alma mater.

We helped Cornell University by creating an original, full-scale, Broadway-style, performance entitled, The Big Idea! – Cornell Celebrates 150, that traveled across five U.S. cities, Hong Kong, and London for 8 sold-out shows. Celebrity hosts and Cornell alumni, Jimmy Smits, Kate Snow, Jonathan Wong, and Adepero Oduye entertained guests set against scenic backdrops that came to life through the creative use of technology. These boldly designed environments included a majestic red-carpet experience and an endless stream of confetti. The shows were a stunning success, and our ability to swiftly customize the experience and adapt it to different venues and audiences ensured that a tremendous time was had by all.

In Hong Kong, we built, rehearsed, performed, and dismantled the show in just 24 hours. Cornell clearly inspired us with its prowess in the arts and sciences.

This sold-out sensation was designed and packaged to travel, entertaining audiences, and renewing their commitment to Cornell University. Robert Harrison, Cornell Board Chair, raved “Those two hours were just riveting. Truly a brilliant job.”
