With only 72 hours from the moment the USA won the FIFA Women’s World Cup, to the start of the Ticker Tape Parade, productionglue was called upon by the Office of the Mayor of New York City to pull off the impossible – handle the pre-show, broadcast, and the official key ceremony celebration for this unstoppable team.

An immense display of US pride was on parade as thousands of fans and admirers lined the streets surrounding City Hall to catch a glimpse of the victorious US Women’s National Team. Mayor De Blasio, Robin Roberts, and other high-level attendees were on hand for the festivities, an event that was shared wildly through social media. Megan Rapinoe delivered a heartfelt speech, urging the crowd “to be better, to love more and hate less. Listen more and talk less. It is our responsibility to make this world a better place.” Mayor De Blasio then presented each team member with an official key to the city, to sonorous cheers.

Of course, no victory celebration would be complete without copious amounts of red, white, and blue confetti–90lbs were shot into the sky. Our team made magic happen through a mix of technical direction, talent wrangling, stage producing, and special effects.

In just 3 days, we were able to pull off a celebration that fueled over 300,000 posts on Instagram, a story covered by dozens of media outlets including the Washington Post, CBS News, NPR, NYTimes, USA Today, The Atlantic, CNN among others.
