The women of productionglue share their industry insights and career advice.

What advice do you have for women pursuing a career in live events?

Believe in yourself, confidence is everything in this industry. Also, remain observant and take good notes, you can learn a lot from your peers!

What three characteristics best describe a successful Senior Producer?

  • Strong Leader – inspire others by setting a good example. During challenging situations, having a positive attitude and approach is important to keep motivation levels high.
  • Confidence – in leading the charge, a Sr. Producer needs to be sure about their own decisions and show assertiveness in order for the rest of the team to follow.
  • Committed and Passionate – my motto has always been I wouldn’t ask anyone to do something that I wouldn’t do myself.  When the team sees you getting your hands dirty, it serves as motivation for them to want to perform at their best.

Describe your proudest moment at productionglue. Why was it special?

One of my proudest moments at Glue was producing the 2019 VISA Costco Super Bowl LIII Football clinic in Atlanta and seeing the fans interact with NFL Athletes in football drills that our team developed.  I find it rewarding producing consumer geared events such as this, as attendees really enjoy and appreciate the experience.

What are three career lessons you’ve learned thus far?

  • You cannot do everything.  It’s important for a leader to focus on key responsibilities while empowering the team and delegating tasks.
  • Communication is key.  It helps eliminate misunderstandings while developing trust and respect.
  • Empathy matters.  Having the ability to understand someone else’s thoughts and feelings is important in building strong relationships.

What are your hopes for our industry? Specifically, for women in live events

My hope for our industry is that women will continue to believe they are capable of anything they set their minds to – currently, the more technical roles are filled primarily by men.  I find it really inspiring seeing a woman Master Electrician!

What do you enjoy most about being a Senior Producer?

Leading a team of incredibly talented people and seeing our client’s visions come to life!

What does true leadership mean to you? How do you embody leadership?

Leadership is about people — and the beauty in understanding that everyone comes from different backgrounds with varying opinions and thought processes.  Being a true leader is inspiring and encouraging those around you through your actions.  I focus on being a relationship-driven leader and value every relationship equally.
